In addition to the many recreational opportunities at Cedar Hill State Park you can also learn about local Texas history by touring the Penn Farm Agricultural Penn Farm at Cedar Hill State Park Center. Farming in Cedar Hill, TX dates back to the first European settler of the property, John Penn, who first arrived in Texas in 1854. Self-guided and guided tours of the agricultural center allow visitors to discover how Texas family farms once operated and how they have changed over the last century and half.

Cedar Hill State Park is just one of a number of public facilities that are located on the shores of Joe Pool Lake: Britton Park, Loyd Park (Lloyd Park), Lynn Creek Park, and Lynn Park Marina are all managed by the city of Grand Prairie, TX. The numerous parks, two marinas, and Joe Pool Lake collectively offer outstanding outdoor recreational opportunities for the many visitors that flock to the area from Dallas and Fort Worth.

Entrance Fees:

Per person (children 12 and under are not charged) - $7 per day, for day use, $5 per day for overnight stays. The park gate opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m.

Here are a few quick facts: Campsites with electric and water hook ups (350 sites) are $25 - $30 per night. There is a limit of 8 people per campsite and the camping fees do not include the per-person entrance fees. There are also 30 hike-in primitive campsites that cost $10 per night. There is a drop box where you can deposit your entrance and camping fees if you arrive at Cedar Hill State Park after closing hours.

Joe Pool Marina - 235 wet slips with available dry boat storage. Fees vary - call 972-299-9010.
